General advice

  • Mosquitoes

    There are illnesses in this country that you can get from mosquitoes, for example zika virus, chikungunya and dengue (break-bone fever). Protect yourself well against mosquito bites during the day (between sunrise and sunset). See also the leaflet ' Muggenwering op reis ' (available in Dutch).

  • Rabies

    Mammals in this country may have rabies. Avoid any contact with mammals. Before you travel to this country, ask an expert (doctor/nurse) at a travel vaccination centre if you need a vaccination against rabies.

  • Chikungunya

    In this country, chikungunya occurs. Whether you need a vaccination against chikungunya depends on the individual. Consult a n expert (doctor/nurse) at a travel vaccination centre.

  • Dengue

    You may get dengue (break-bone fever) in this country. Vaccination is recommended for some people before they go to this country. Get advice from an expert (doctor/nurse) at a travel vaccination centre.

  • Hepatitis B

    Some people need to get a vaccination against hepatitis B before they go to this country. Get advice from an expert (doctor/nurse) at a travel vaccination centre.

  • Japanese encephalitis

  • Tuberculosis

    There is a higher risk that you will get tuberculosis in this country. Get advice from an expert (doctor/nurse) at a travel vaccination centre. They will tell you if you need a vaccination against tuberculosis or if you should have a test to see if you are infected. The advice is different for different people.
