Frequently Asked Questions
We often receive certain questions about Vaxy. You will find the most important ones below with our answers.
General
Why should I use Vaxy?
Many people lose their vaccination records or do not have a complete overview of their vaccinations. Vaxy solves this by storing all your vaccinations securely and clearly, including those of your family. You receive reminders when a vaccination is about to expire and can easily keep or share proof. This is useful for doctor visits or travel.
Do I need a vaccination booklet?
You only need a vaccination booklet when travelling to countries where it is mandatory. A digital backup is wise in case you lose the booklet. For yellow fever, proof may be mandatory in countries including Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Togo and Uganda; in South America this applies to Bolivia and French Guiana. Countries such as Suriname, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Guyana, Paraguay, Panama, India, Australia, Singapore, China, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia may also require proof if you arrive from or travelled through a yellow-fever risk country. Rules differ per country and change regularly; check before departure via ggdreisvaccinaties.nl or an official travel clinic.
Where can I request my vaccination history?
You can view part of your vaccinations via mijn.rivm.nl by logging in with DigiD, but not everything is always registered there. Children's vaccinations are often recorded in a care portal such as Mijn kinddossier or GGD Ouderportaal. Travel vaccinations are often registered per clinic and can be requested there. Vaccinations given by your GP can be requested from your GP. You can then import vaccinations easily by taking a photo; Vaxy recognizes them automatically.
Can I make an appointment for travel vaccinations through the app?
Yes, you can make an appointment for your travel vaccinations through the app.
Reliability & security
Help, my data is gone. How is that possible?
Your data is stored securely by us and is never deleted by us. Sometimes users forget which login method they used, such as Apple, Google, Facebook or email. In that case we can find the account. If you have a question about your data, email [email protected].
How does Vaxy protect the privacy of medical data?
We apply data minimization: we store only the data strictly necessary for the app to work. Medical data is shielded, is never used commercially and is not shared with third parties without explicit consent. The goal is always to give you control over your own data.
Which security measures do you use?
We follow international best practices and security standards. This includes encryption of data at rest and in transit, limited and controlled server access, continuous monitoring and logging to quickly detect anomalies, and regular updates and security tests to prevent new risks. We periodically evaluate our measures and adapt them when new techniques or risks arise.
Who can view the medical data?
Only strictly authorized persons have access, and only for necessary technical work or further development of the app. No one else can view or use your data. You always remain the owner of your data.
How do you keep the app reliable?
The app is designed to function safely and stably. We continuously make improvements and updates, extensively test every new version and work together to maintain high quality standards.
